Change of swtichgear, control and transformer at the mill in Åmofors

The papermill in Åmotfors has two paper machines. One of them now got new switchgear, new control and new transformer. The start up ime on four hours was a new record.

The main reasons that the switchgear, control and transformer needed to be replaces was that the gear was almost 40 years old. It was difficult to find spareparts.
Now with the new gear the papermachine runs smooth and the benefits has already proved.
The total time for the installation of the new switchgear is about six month, but the preparations began already a year ago.
- The secret to success with a job as big as this is to have a good plan and good project manager, says Dick Lange Ferm who is the facory manager at Åmotfors mill.

The switchgear was put into operation during Christmas and it only took four hours before the paper came out, which is some kind of record.
But good planning and project management is not everything, according to Dick Lange Ferm and Christer Östberg, project manager of the project.
They also think it´s important to have a good working spirit among the emplyees. Which they say they have.
This investment has been very intense and many of the employees has worked a lot, but no one has complained. Because they think this is good, fun and also educational. The employees feel that the company believe in them, and that is also a very important ingrediens due to success in these kind of investment projects.
