BioKraft - admire it now before it’s gone!

We have succeeded in combining two of the most important properties of a compostable paper: wet strength and biodegradability. Intensive research has helped Nordic Paper make the previously impossible possible.

We named the result of our research BioKraft from Nordic paper. This is the first compostable paper to meet SP – the Swedish National Testing and Research Institute’s – requirements for biodegradability.

BioKraft from Nordic Paper is highly water resistant but also sufficiently porous to biodegrade quickly. This means that, under the right conditions, the paper biodegrades within 112 days, faster than any other compostable paper on the market. Compare this with the 400 years it takes for a plastic bag to biodegrade.

BioKraft from Nordic Paper is the only paper that has received the Kappa certificate, developed by the SP Swedish National Testing and Research Institute. The Kappa certification is mainly related to fast biodegradability and better traceability. To receive this certificate, the material must biodegrade by at least 90% within six months.
